The African proverb asserts that "It takes a village to raise a child";
Nehemiah Ministries, Inc. agrees. We believe that for single moms, raising children in a community environment is not only easier but it benefits their family and other families. Young mothers and their children risk homelessness as teen living programs aren't able to serve women once they reach age 20. This leaves women trying to juggle school, work, and children-all while searching for affordable housing. The Village will provide permanent affordable housing and a community, family environment for young mothers.

Mission:Phoenix
On October 21, 2006 the first annual Mission:Phoenix event was held at Christ Church Cathedral in Springfield, MA. Nehemiah Ministries was one of the major sponsors of this event aimed at combining a "one stop-shop" for social and medical services for Springfield's un-housed population. Another major facet of the "Phoenix" included an art exhibit filled with artwork created by guests of the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen. We were impressed with this inaugural effort! Praise God! Block Parties
In August 2004 we sponsored a Block Party to get friends and neighbors together for food, fun and fellowship. The children enjoyed playing soccer, musical chairs and of course the bounce house. The more mature 'kids' enjoyed conversation, good food and some good music. Enjoy the photos below!

Neighbors on the Porch
Since this photo was taken, our wonderful neighborhood grandma (sitting to the far left) has passed away. Please continue to keep her family in prayer.
